Bargain Beauty

Hi, My name is Monda and I am a Product Junkie.

junk·ie also junk·y

n. pl. junk·ies Slang

1. A products addict, especially one using many different types of products.

2. One who has an insatiable interest or devotion: she’s a product junkie

I could scan the health and beauty shelves at Target for hours. Not that I ever really have hours to scan the shelves these days but I could.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I cherish the products like my beloved La Mer cream but these days Mama’s trying to cut back on her spending since I am now staying at home. So, I use that cream VERY sparingly.

For a cheap thrill, I have found several products that I can pickup at Target while grabbing a gallon of milk and they all have a price tag that even your husband can’t complain about.

Hair

I use to spend a fortune on professional brand shampoos and conditioners because my stylist claimed they worked better. But then I discovered Suave Professionals in Rosemary Mint. It smells just like Aveda’s Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner and I have been very happy with the results on my hair. But I will share with you my secret. I still use the professional styling and finishing products.

Body

In the summer I use more fragrant body washes and lotions  but now that the temperatures are starting to cool down and my skin tends to dry out more, I use the Cetaphil Restoraderm Body Wash and Lotion. It really helps protect and smooth my skin. I also use it on Meredith and Jonah because they have very sensitive skin.

My cuticles are very dry so I keep containers of the Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream in my bathroom and in my car. It’s easy to use and smells like a lemon drop.

Face

I have found that Neutrogena products works really well on my face because I also have sensitive skin. I use a face wash and lotion that my Dermatologist recommended most days but I picked up the Neutrogena natural purifying facial cleanser recently and have been very happy with the results and how my skin feels after washing it.

Don’t tell my dermatologist but I will admit that I am really bad about washing my face at night. After a lecture from my best friend Vicky about how not washing your face at night will make you age faster, I bought the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I will say it’s been much easier to go to bed with a clean face every night thanks to these. They are gentle and even waterproof makeup.

I usually do not spray tan in the winter unless we have an event to attend but I still like a little color on my face because I am normally VERY pale. I use this daily moisturizer at night actually and it gradually adds just the right amount of color to my face and has SPF.

My other favorite moisturizer is the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer. It is non-greasy and light and works well under makeup. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF15 4.0 fl.oz. / 120ml

Makeup

Loreal Color Juice. Perfect for a sweep of color and moisture on my lips when I am running out the door in the mornings to drop the kids off at school.

Great Last Mascara by Maybelline has always been a favorite for many. Thanks to my mom I was blessed with long eyelashes so I am very picky about my mascara. I use a different brand for daily wear but when I need Waterproof Mascara, this one does the trick.

So, there are the beauty bargains that I use. What are your favorites?
