A Good Night's Sleep

As a Mom of two, ages 5 and 2 years old, a good night's sleep is a luxury. We are lucky if we can get both kids to sleep in their beds through the night. Not to mention our dog also sleeps with us. So at some point during the night we will have two adults, two children and a dog in our King size bed. And at some point I will either be pushed off the bed, kicked in the ribs or awoken to a demanding 2 year old wanting milk.

With that said, I have tried to find ways to make the sleep we do get as enjoyable as possible.

Here are my favorites to help ensure a good night's sleep.

We recently purchased a ComfortPedic mattress and I love it. You can't detect when someone gets in and out of the bed. It's great while you are sleeping but on more than one occasion, I have turned over only to be staring right into Jonah's eyes.

While I love a good set of sheets with a high thread count, 600 or more, I recently discovered bamboo sheets. They are very soft and seem to be cooler to sleep on which is great in Texas in the middle of the summer. I hate being hot when I'm sleeping so these are perfect. I have found nice sets online and less expensive sets at Target.

And what better way to make your sheets smell lovely than to use a high end laundry detergent. I am obsessed with Tyler Glamorous Wash in Diva. It not only makes your sheets smell heavenly. It makes your entire room smell heavenly!

My best friend Vicky introduced me to the Bath and Body Works Lavender Chamomile Pillow Spray. It makes your pillow smell lovely! I even use it on the kids pillows at night (hoping it will entice them to stay in their own bed!)

We have 6 windows in our bedroom and even though we have blinds, there is still a lot of sunlight that creeps into our room in the mornings. Studies show that a dark cool room will result in a deeper sleep so I like to use a sleep mask most nights. The softer the better. I like this one from Etsy.

Finally my favorite time to sleep is during a thunderstorm and since those seem to be a rare occurrence in Dallas these days and I won't be moving to Seattle anytime soon, I had to find an alternative. I discovered the Ambiance App on iTunes and downloaded the perfect thunderstorm to play when we sleep. They have every sound you can think of on this app. Sometimes we change it up and head to the beach and listen to waves crashing or to a Thai Villa with jungle sounds and soft echos in the background. You can have a different escape every night if you want but the Thunderstorm is definitely my favorite.

So, enjoy and get ready to wake up feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep with these helpful products!
